Service Studio-Overview

 Hello Everyone,

I hope you all people liked my first blog. So in the continuation of my first blog, now i am proceeding towards my second post. You all people might think that yesterday i have given the overview about OutSystem then how this post is interconnected. Don't Worry!!! I will explain..

In the OutSystem, there are various components and tools and Service studio is one of the tool in which we can design, develop and deploy our application. Following is the explanation about Service studio:

What is Service Studio ?

  • In service studio, we can create our applications and modules in a very easy manner. We just have to drag and drop the widgets and give some logic to work/function accordingly.
  • Also we can define our data models as well. Like in Java or in other programming languages we need different platforms to create our databases but here no need to go to different platform. This software is "ONE IN ALL". Everything is here just make a logic, drag and drop the widgets and run your application.
  • Moreover  here we can define business processes and timers.
  • In last we can debug our applications by using this platform.
So to use these services provided by OutSystem, we have to install and connect with this software.

When you will connect to the environment then there is a screen in various tabs are there. I will  show you one by one.
Firstly whenever we connect to environment then there are two or more icons. One is New Application by which you can create new application.
Second icon is about Forge the components.
Also in case if you have already developed the applications then those icon are also appeared on this screen.
Now this screen is called Environment screen. It has various functionalities like we can see the details of a particular application, we can develop various modules for particular application, we can have various dependencies and can distribute too.

After connecting to the environment , we can develop new application and workspace layout will look like the screenshot below:

Now in canvas, we can see on the right hand side, there are four tabs that is called Application layer. Every Layer has its own functionality.

Processes is the first layer and it has processes and timers. In processes, various business processes, decisions, waits etc are there. In timers, scheduled actions, timers and priorities are there.

Next layer is Interface layer, It has basically four things UI flow in which screens and patterns are there, themes, images and scripts are there.

Next layer is Logic layer in which client actions, server actions, integration, exceptions, roles are there.

Last layer is Data layer in which entity diagrams, entities, structures, client variables, site properties etc are there.

So with the introduction or giving a some glance for service studio, i hope this introductory blog on this software will create a interest to make an application by LCP(Low Code Platform).
I hope you people enjoyed this blog and will wait for next post. See you Soon Everyone😊
Thankyou
